Introduction to Input-Output Table (I-O)/Supply and Use Table (SUT) Multiplier Modeling and Analysis

Objective of the course

The main aim of the course is to equip participants with skills of analysis of the I-O/SUT using Multiplier modeling based skills. The course is rich in sectoral analysis and captures the interlinkages between production sectors, agents, institutions and global economy. This course explicitly shows the format and economic blocks used in developing I-O and SUTs. The participants are exposed to the theoretical formulation of multiplier models and their applications on the analysis of Input-Output (I-O) Tables and Supply and Use Tables (SUT). The course also uses the I-O/SUT matrices in their aggregated Macro-form. The course is designed for policy analysts and researchers in government, statistic houses, central banks, academia and international organisations engaged in policy guidance. However, it is plausible for prospectus participants to have hard exposure to national accounts or matrices though the theoretical approach will be re-introduced. The details of the course, include;

  • Introduction to matrix applications and analysis
  • Introduction to I-O/SUT matrices and their compilations
  • Step by step construction of a small I-O Multiplier model
  • Policy Simulations using an I-O Multiplier model
  • Step by step construction of a small SUT Multiplier model
  • Policy Simulations using a SUT Multiplier model
  • Interpretation of results from I-O and SUT model
  • Computation of forward and backward linkages
  • Policy simulation and interpretation of results

Mode of delivery
The introduction course on I-O/SAM multiplier modeling and analysis is implemented though a hands-on approach. It is mandatory for all participants to attend all the sessions organized for this programme. The course is composed of a series of short exercises to allow each participant develop his/her own multiplier model. Participants will work in groups and shall be expected to make a presentation of their policy simulation results on the last day of the training workshop. Each participant is expected to come with his/her own individual laptop and mouse. For the online option, each participant is expected to submit answers to assignments on time to allow the course end within the specified period as extension could come with facilitation costs. Click here to apply or email application on apply@macrosolve.net or macrosolveinfo@gmail.com
