Advanced Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium (DSGE) Modeling

Advanced Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium (DSGE) Modeling

Objective of the course
This course is an extension of the introduction to DSGE course. The course is intended to equip participants with hands-on skills in building advanced DSGE models. The course introduces advanced calibration and parameter estimation techniques. The participants of this course will acquire skills of customizing any DSGE model to a particular country. Policy simulations will be based on a benchmark country of choice. The course is designed for policy analysts and researchers in government, central banks, academicians and staff of international organisations engaged in policy guidance. It is strongly advisable that participants of this course to first graduate from the introduction course in DSGE Modeling. The details of the course, include;

  • Advanced skills in using Matlab and Dynare
  • Application of DSGE Models in the real world
  • Advanced structure of DSGE Model
  • Advanced skills in inter-temporal analysis
  • Hands-on-building of a DSGE model blocks for a country of choice
  • Calibration of parameters for a country based DGSE model
  • Designing stochastic shocks from policy questions in a DSGE model
  • Advanced Loop-statements in DSGE models
  • Wage and price rigidities and other market imperfections in the model
  • Optimizing and Rule of thumb consumers
  • Estimation of country based parameters in DSGE Model
  • Designing policy simulations
  • Impulse response functions
  • Response of monetary policy to fiscal shocks in DSGE model
  • Interpretation of results and reporting formats

Mode of delivery
Advanced DSGE model introduces hands-on advanced skills in customizing the DSGE model to a particular country. The participants will work in groups to benefit from synergy and are expected to present their findings as a group.  That participants will also be equipped with skills of interpreting results. However, it’s plausible that participants of this course should first take the “Introduction to DSGE course” or to have had exposure to DSGE models and Matlab.  For the online option, each participant is expected to submit answers to assignments on time to allow the course end within the specified period as extension could come with facilitation costs. Click here to apply or email application on apply@macrosolve.net or macrosolveinfo@gmail.com
